Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025
Ubisoft has announced a delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, pushing its release date to March 20th, 2025. This decision prioritizes incorporating player feedback to deliver a superior gaming experience. This marks the second delay for the game, having previously been postponed from its initial 2024 release to February 14th, 2025.
A Focus on Enhanced Gameplay
Ubisoft's statement, shared across their X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook accounts, emphasizes the value of community feedback. They explain that while significant progress has been made, an additional few weeks are necessary to fully integrate player suggestions and ensure a more engaging launch experience.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot further elaborated in a press release, highlighting the commitment to creating the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed title yet. He stated that the extra development time will allow for better integration of player feedback, maximizing the game's potential and ensuring a strong finish to the year. The press release also detailed Ubisoft's ongoing restructuring efforts, including appointing advisors to explore strategic options for maximizing stakeholder value. This follows disappointing performance from several 2024 releases, including Star Wars Outlaws and XDefiant.
While the official announcement focuses on player feedback, speculation among fans suggests the delay might also be a strategic move to avoid competition with other major game releases scheduled for February. Titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (February 4th), Civilization VII (February 11th), Avowed (February 18th), and Monster Hunter Wilds (February 28th) create a crowded market, potentially influencing Ubisoft's decision.
