The stress test for what could be the eighth and final major patch for *Baldur's Gate III* has now kicked off. Some Sony console players had early access to the patch, but if you're not keen on testing it out, the developers suggest a clean slate by reinstalling the game.
Patch 8 brings some exciting new features to the table. One of the headline updates is crossplay, which means players on consoles and PC can now team up. You can even invite friends from different platforms as long as they have a linked Larian account. What's more, modded gameplay can also go cross-platform, but there are a few rules to follow. All mods used by the PC player need to be available on Mac and consoles too. Plus, the host's lobby should keep the number of mods to a double-digit limit.
Speaking of multiplayer, a highly anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console didn't support split-screen play before, so this is fantastic news for Xbox Series S users.
Patch 8 isn't just about multiplayer, though. It also introduces a highly customizable photo mode and adds 12 new subclasses, bringing even more variety to your gameplay. Larian has also worked on fixing bugs and rebalancing elements, although some issues still linger. You can find a complete rundown of all the changes for the stress test on the game’s official page.
