Bandai Namco is taking another exciting leap into the mobile gaming world with Digimon Alysion, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game. This free-to-play title is slated for release on both Android and iOS platforms, although an exact launch date remains under wraps.
The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th. Alongside this reveal, Bandai Namco shared updates on other projects, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc set to launch in April 2025. The event also featured a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, and introduced a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond, alongside a forthcoming RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, which will be available on consoles and PC.
Digimon Alysion: Not Just Another Card Game
Digimon Alysion isn’t merely a digital clone of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces a unique feature called ‘DigiAly’ cards, in addition to the original cards tailored specifically for this mobile version. Bandai Namco is also set to include new Digimon and characters, adding a fresh twist to the game.
The character roster showcased on the game’s website features an all-female lineup, which is an unconventional choice for a digital card game. This direction has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco’s first venture into Digimon mobile gaming. Their previous attempts have met with limited success, causing some concern about the potential performance of Digimon Alysion. Despite this, anticipation remains high, and a closed beta test is on the horizon, though specifics are yet to be disclosed.
