Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a treasure trove of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the exciting reveal of a new map named The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a special holiday for Call of Duty enthusiasts, featuring a comprehensive blog post detailing all the zombie-themed surprises players can anticipate in the coming weeks. The highlight of today's announcements is The Tomb, a new sandy Zombies map set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This means fans will have another thrilling addition to the Zombies universe just under two weeks after Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.
Following the harrowing events at Citadelle des Morts, characters Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya are led by Gabriel Krafft’s last words to an excavation site to retrieve the Sentinel Artifact. According to Treyarch, The Tomb is built on ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E., which remained untouched until the early 1900s. The mysteries beneath these catacombs may be deeper than anyone could have anticipated.
Treyarch describes The Tomb as a mysterious locale connected to a British archeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, but keeps the details of its ties to the overarching Zombies narrative under wraps. In terms of gameplay, this new map promises an experience akin to Liberty Falls, the vibrant, small-town map that debuted with Black Ops 6 in October. The focus here is on "tighter play spaces with an emphasis on replayability," as players uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden throughout The Tomb.
Treyarch also teases a reimagined Wonder Weapon "inspired by our past" alongside the return of a fan-favorite SMG, although specifics remain shrouded in mystery. Season 2 also brings a robust set of quality-of-life enhancements, including long-requested community features. Players will now be able to track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. Additionally, Zombies mode will introduce a co-op pause feature, allowing the party leader to pause a match mid-run. HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players can rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10am PT on January 21. Treyarch also shared insights into the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have logged over 480 million hours in Black Ops 6 Zombies. "Our goal from the start for Directed Mode was simple: grow the Zombies community by guiding new players through the Main Quests with some guardrails in place, so they can experience the storyline and hopefully become lifelong Zombies fans," the team stated. Since Directed Mode's introduction, the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, rising from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today.
Fans are eager to hear the voices of the Zombies characters when The Tomb launches, especially following Activision's announcement last month about the recasting of some beloved Zombies characters amid the SAG-AFTRA strike.
