Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 Update: A Rollercoaster of Excitement and Controversy
Cookie Run: Kingdom has announced its Version 5.6 update, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," packed with new cookies, episodes, events, and more. However, the update's reception has been mixed, sparking significant community backlash.
The Good: New Cookies and Content
The update introduces Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie, an Ancient+ rarity Charge-type cookie with a powerful Awakened King skill. A dedicated Nether-Gacha increases the chances of acquiring him. Peach Blossom Cookie, a new Epic Support-type cookie, joins the roster with healing and defensive buffs. A new World Exploration episode continues Dark Cacao Cookie's story, featuring Yin and Yang battle stages.
The Bad and the Ugly: The Ancient+ Rarity
The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, with a maximum 6-star promotion level, has been met with significant player outrage. Adding an 11th rarity to the existing ten, instead of enhancing existing characters, is seen as a cynical move to encourage spending.
Community Backlash and Developer Response
The Korean community and whale guilds responded with threats of a boycott, prompting the developers to postpone the update (originally scheduled for June 20th) to reconsider the Ancient+ rarity. The official announcement is available on their Twitter page. Further updates are expected.
