Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film starring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview, Elba expressed his excitement about the possibility, stating a live-action adaptation would be "Whoa." This isn't their first collaboration; both actors have worked together on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
Elba's enthusiasm stems from the potential synergy between his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic portrayal of Johnny Silverhand. The idea of a live-action adaptation is gaining traction; Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red is developing a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk adaptation is highly feasible.
Beyond the live-action prospect, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, is now available in several languages, with an English release pending. This manga will explore the backstory of Rebecca and Pilar, before their involvement with Maine's crew. Furthermore, a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Blu-ray release is planned for 2025, and a new animated series is also in development. CD Projekt Red is actively expanding the Cyberpunk franchise across various media.
