A Kindling Forest: A Solo Developer's Side-Scrolling Adventure
Dennis Berndtsson, a high school teacher and solo game developer, presents his latest creation: A Kindling Forest. This isn't your average action-adventure; it's a fast-paced, side-scrolling auto-runner brimming with ingenious mechanics. Prepare for a journey filled with forests, arrows, and a generous helping of lava!
The Story: A Demon, an Archer, and a Perilous Quest
An ancient demon unleashes chaos upon the world, prompting the forest spirits to awaken a long-dormant archer. Armed with a bow and arrow, he's tasked with vanquishing the demonic threat. But this quest is far from simple.
Gameplay: Precision, Timing, and Survival
A Kindling Forest keeps you perpetually in motion. The screen continuously scrolls, presenting a relentless barrage of sharp, jagged obstacles in unpredictable formations. Your survival hinges on quick reflexes: dodge or destroy these hazards with your arrows.
Arrows are your most valuable resource, representing the forest spirits' aid. Run out, and the game is over. Every shot must be precise and well-timed.
Five increasingly challenging levels await, each more chaotic than the last. You'll navigate treacherous landscapes, leaping over spiders, teleporting through ancient ruins, soaring over clouds, and even braving fiery rivers of lava.
Strategic restarts are facilitated by strategically placed checkpoints. These lifelines enable you to reassess your tactics and attempt new approaches after a mishap.
Unique Dual-Screen Controls
A Kindling Forest employs a unique split-screen control system. One half of your screen manages jumps, while the other controls your shots. Mastering the timing between these actions is paramount. A brief slow-motion effect during aiming provides crucial moments for precise targeting.
