A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and complex process, marked by significant delays stretching almost a decade. Development began in 2015, after Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, resulting in resource and talent reallocation away from the project—then known as "Joplin." Furthermore, initial design conflicts with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.
The Veilguard was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After years of further development, the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Get ready, Thedas awaits!
