Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
The latest update for Fallout 76 allows players to embrace their inner Ghoul and roam the post-apocalyptic landscape with unique abilities and perks. Bethesda announced on March 18 that Season 20, dubbed "The Ghoul Within," is now live, introducing a slew of ghoul-centric features, mechanics, and stylish new cosmetics for players' C.A.M.Ps.
To become a Ghoul, players must complete the "Leap of Faith" questline, which leads to an unexplored part of the Savage Divide and introduces new characters pivotal to the transformation process. As a Ghoul, players gain access to exclusive abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks."
The Feral ability transforms the conventional hunger and thirst mechanics into a Feral meter. The level of the meter impacts various gameplay elements, and when it hits 0%, players experience drastic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
On the other hand, the Glow ability allows players to absorb radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and even causing them to emit a glow. This ability not only boosts maximum health and heals damage but also enhances the effectiveness of Ghoul-exclusive Perks.
Players have a selection of 28 perks and two new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note, however, that Ghouls cannot benefit from perks related to Hunger, Thirst, or Chem Resistance.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Embracing the Ghoul life simplifies navigating the radiation-soaked wasteland, thanks to the unique abilities and Gherks. Yet, it's not without its challenges; factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may react hostilely, potentially locking Ghouls out of certain questlines.
Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye provides players with disguises, enabling them to bypass content restrictions due to their Ghoul status. Should players wish to revert to humanity, they can do so via the Character Screen, although this is irreversible without purchasing the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and veteran players alike can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, available for 1500 Atoms in the Season 20 update. This boost equips players with the necessary perks and advantages to dive straight into multiplayer activities like Daily Ops, Public Events, and selected story content.
Alongside the character boost, the Season 20 patch includes numerous bug fixes, balance adjustments, accessibility improvements, combat tweaks, and weapon damage modifications. Bethesda also teased the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, set for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome its initial hurdles and now boasts a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews praising the game. Fallout 76 is accessible on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
