There was a significant effort by Insomniac Games to develop Resistance 4, but unfortunately, the project did not receive the go-ahead. As Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price steps into retirement after a remarkable 30-year tenure, he shared insights into this unfulfilled project during an interview with Kinda Funny Games. When asked about a favorite game concept that never came to fruition, Price revealed, "Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4."
According to Price, the team at Insomniac pitched *Resistance 4* with great enthusiasm. He described it as a "wonderful concept" that, due to timing and market conditions, did not materialize. Price expressed a strong belief in the potential of the *Resistance* series, citing its unique alternate history setting where the narrative involving the alien Chimera could explore limitless possibilities regarding their origins and future actions. The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, is known for its first-person shooter gameplay set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. The franchise saw three releases exclusively on the PlayStation 3 before the studio shifted focus to other successful projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new iterations of Ratchet and Clank.
Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games, naming Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as the new Co-Studio Heads to lead the company forward. Insomniac's most recent release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has now been made available on PC, and the studio is gearing up for their next project, Marvel’s Wolverine.
