Jason Momoa's portrayal of the iconic character Lobo is set to make a thrilling debut in the 2026 DC Universe film, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. Momoa, previously known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), has expressed his excitement about taking on the role of Lobo, a character he has long admired and connected with due to their aesthetic similarities.
Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, hails from the planet Czarnia. With superhuman strength and immortality, he is the last surviving member of his race, much like Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in *Omega Men #3* in 1983. Fans can expect to see Momoa's Lobo in *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, although his appearance will be brief.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa shared his enthusiasm for the role, stating, "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool." When asked about his screen time, he clarified, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."
In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, although it didn’t reveal much. Gunn announced via a post on Bluesky that filming had begun on *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, starring House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. The movie, set to release in June 2026, draws heavily from the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.
The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second film in the new DCU, following James Gunn's *Superman*, slated for release this summer. The DCU's *Clayface* movie is scheduled for September 2026.
