Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is now in development.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was famously portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality following Reeves' confirmation of a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios. "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay,’” Reeves revealed to Inverse. "So, we're going to try and write a script.”

While this news is positive, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the project. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU and hasn't been publicly acknowledged by Gunn or Safran. The project's future remains uncertain.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain faithful to the original film's universe. "We're not going off that," he assured fans, adding with a touch of humor: "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more.”
Reeves' comments follow producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's September statement that a Constantine 2 script existed, though he admitted his apprehension about reading it. Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated the script was in his inbox, confessing, "I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
