Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has finally reached its 1.0 release! This milestone update, incorporating extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivers a revitalized experience for both veterans and newcomers.
The most significant addition is the introduction of oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in thrilling battles against LRI mercenaries who control vital supply lines. This update also introduces exciting new events, including helicopter crashes yielding valuable tactical gear, and an underground arena offering hourly combat for lucrative rewards.
The game world is richer than ever, teeming with new wildlife. Players can now tame and ride lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and even goats! A wealth of new items has also been added, including buff-providing hats, combat vests, weapons, explosives, and an array of kitchen recipes. New interactive building and decorating objects, such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets, further enhance the player experience. Weapon balance has also received significant adjustments.
Future plans are ambitious. The upcoming 1.1 update promises farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial, apartment rentals, and the ability to create and join shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter’s journey will continue with a PlayStation release planned for 2026, bringing the game to a wider audience.
