Summary

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio Update 1.11 introduces new menu options for seamless navigation across all platforms.

  • While a sequel isn't currently planned, the game's director, Katsura Hashino, aspires to create one in the future.

Atlus has rolled out a new patch for Metaphor: ReFantazio, enhancing menu options and resolving issues for players on all consoles and PCs. Launched in October 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable sales and garnered numerous awards, establishing itself as a standout RPG in recent times.

Initially revealed by Atlus in 2016 under the codename Project Re:Fantasy, Metaphor: ReFantazio sold an astonishing one million copies worldwide on its debut day, marking the most successful launch in the studio's history. The game, which chronicles a young boy's quest to become the King of the medieval fantasy realm of Euchronia, has not only seen commercial success but also critical acclaim, securing multiple Game of the Year awards and achieving a perfect player rating of 100 on OpenCritic. With this new update, Atlus continues to refine the game across all platforms.

Version 1.11 of Metaphor: ReFantazio enhances the game's menu functionality, simplifying navigation for players. Across all platforms, users can now adjust their battle formations and switch party members directly from the main menu and the equip screen. A new category jump feature on the item screen also streamlines gameplay. For PC players, this patch includes fixes for camera movement, frame rate issues, and controller inputs, reflecting Atlus's commitment to delivering an optimal gaming experience.

Given the overwhelming positive response to Metaphor: ReFantazio, the possibility of a sequel has become a topic of interest. The game's director, Katsura Hashino, expressed in an interview with Weekly Famitsu that while no sequel is currently in development, he hopes to expand Metaphor: ReFantazio into a series akin to Persona and Shin Megami Tensei.

Although a follow-up to Metaphor: ReFantazio isn't yet on the horizon, fans are eagerly anticipating further announcements from Atlus. With 2025 marking the ninth anniversary of Persona 5, speculation about Persona 6 is rife. Following the monumental success of Metaphor: ReFantazio, many believe that announcing a new entry in Atlus's flagship series could sustain the company's momentum.
