by Nicholas Apr 18,2025

Microsoft has locked in its plans for June, announcing both an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. As is tradition, Microsoft is set to unveil a lineup of upcoming Xbox titles during its annual June showcase, and 2025 will be no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled to be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time.

The showcase promises a comprehensive look at upcoming games from Microsoft's first-party studios, alongside exciting new releases from third-party partners around the world. This event is a must-watch for gamers eager to see what's on the horizon for Xbox.

Xbox Games Series Tier List

What might Microsoft have in store? The company boasts an impressive lineup of games in development, including the eagerly anticipated new Fable game, now delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile's Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband from the Just Cause series developer, Rare's Everwild, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima's OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Double Fine, the team behind Psychonauts, is also crafting a new title.

On the Activision Blizzard front, fans can look forward to a new Call of Duty game later this year, along with various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch in July, potentially making an appearance at the showcase.

As for Bethesda, could this be the moment we learn more about the future of Starfield? We're still awaiting a PlayStation 5 release date, and perhaps we'll get a glimpse at The Elder Scrolls 6.

There's also the possibility of Microsoft unveiling new Xbox hardware. While a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld are rumored for 2027, the showcase might hint at third-party Xbox-branded handhelds.

Following the tradition set by the 2023 Starfield Direct and the 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will host The Outer Worlds 2 Direct right after the Xbox Games Showcase. This event, focused on Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2, will offer a deep dive into the game, showcasing new gameplay, details, and insights from the developers behind this sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG. The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for release later in 2025, making it likely that we'll see a release date announced during the showcase.

Here are the local times for the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct:

  • PDT: June 8, 10am
  • EDT: June 8, 1pm
  • BST: June 8, 6pm
  • CET: June 8, 7pm
  • JST: June 9, 2am
  • AEST: June 9, 3am

Microsoft has confirmed that both events will be digital-only, with no in-person theater experience for fans and media. However, the company assures that the livestream will provide everything needed to stay updated on what's next for Xbox, regardless of where you're watching from.
