NieR: Automata's opening throws players into 2B's mission. After deploying your flight unit and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game weapon temporarily lost after the prologue. However, you can quickly reacquire it once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This is the game's first readily accessible additional weapon, located near your initial spawn point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descend to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. An access point and stairs leading upwards are situated on the left. At the top, locate the destroyed bridge (where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.
Your discarded body is just beyond the sword to the right, allowing you to recover any remaining consumables from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata
- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can potentially make this one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during a quicker weapon's sequence. This won't allow a full combo, but it compensates for its slow speed while leveraging its high damage output.
