Osmos is back on Google Play with a brand-new port after a brief absence

by Allison Jan 07,2025

Osmos, the acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, returns to Android! Previously removed due to compatibility issues that hindered updates, it's back with a completely revamped port from developer Hemisphere Games.

Remember the unique physics-based gameplay? Absorb microorganisms, but avoid becoming absorbed yourself! This award-winning puzzler, initially released in 2010, is now optimized for modern Android devices.

Hemisphere Games explained in a blog post that initial Android development relied on Apportable, a now-defunct porting studio. This resulted in the game's removal due to incompatibility with current (64-bit) systems. The new version features a rebuilt port, ensuring a smooth and playable experience.
