Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, brings a slew of exciting features that significantly enhance the gaming experience. One of the most anticipated additions is crossplay functionality, now available across all platforms, allowing players to connect and play together seamlessly, regardless of their device. This update also introduces the Global Palbox, a revolutionary feature that enables players to store Pal data and transfer Pals between different worlds, making it easier to manage your collection across various game sessions.
In addition to the Global Palbox, Palworld now includes the Dimensional Pal Storage, which boasts ten times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This new storage system is accessible to guild members and can also be set to private mode for personal use, providing flexibility and convenience for all players. Another standout feature is the cosmetic armour system, allowing players to change their character's appearance without affecting their armour stats through the Antique Dresser. This means you can customize your look while maintaining your combat effectiveness.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new Photo Mode, accessible via the Pal Command Wheel, which lets you hide the UI and freely move the camera to capture stunning in-game screenshots. The Drafting Table is another new addition, enabling players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, enhancing the crafting system. Dedicated servers for Mac users have also been introduced, ensuring a smoother experience for those on Apple devices.
The update also includes several specification adjustments, such as the ability to place buildings even if they overlap with a Pal, automatic alignment of connected foundations and roofs, and the addition of torches at dungeon entrances for better visibility. Players can now assign an Ice Pal to the Flea Market to slow down item decay, sit on chairs and cushions, and enjoy improved NPC behavior during conversations.
Balance adjustments have been made to enhance gameplay, including changes to elemental chest rewards, increased EXP from defeating the Attack Chopper, and adjustments to the DPS of Flamethrowers. Some human NPCs now have work suitability and animations when assigned tasks at a base, and summoned raid bosses can no longer damage other bases. The update also adds the Water attribute to Dumud and resets NPC conversation logs to allow players to claim rewards again.
The user interface has been improved with new sorting options for the Pal Box, categorized favorites, and the ability to continuously increase or decrease values in the Pal Soul Enhancement UI. An "Extra Large" text size option and Fullscreen Mode have been added to enhance visibility and immersion.
Several new achievements have been introduced, giving players more goals to strive for. The update also addresses numerous bugs, such as issues with players being launched into space while climbing, problems with commanding summoned Pals, and various other minor fixes to improve overall gameplay stability.
Developer Pocketpair is actively working on adding dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, which will be released in the future. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an incredible 32 million players. The studio has laid out a content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and more new content for this hugely popular creature-catching survival game.
Palworld launched on Steam for $30 and was immediately available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, breaking sales and concurrent player number records. The game's massive success led Pocketpair to form a new business, Palworld Entertainment, in partnership with Sony, to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5. However, the game's success has also attracted legal attention, with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filing a lawsuit against Pocketpair for alleged patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded by tweaking how players summon Pals and is prepared to defend its position in court.
