People Can Fly, renowned for developing Bulletstorm and co-developing Gears of War: E-Day, has entered into a significant agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment to work on a new game, codenamed Project Delta. This project is described as a work-for-hire in a report from People Can Fly, though specific details about Project Delta remain under wraps.
Currently, People Can Fly is juggling a diverse portfolio of projects, each with unique codenames. Alongside Project Delta, they are developing Project Gemini in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw 30 developers laid off last year. Other ongoing projects include Project Echo with Krafton, Project Red, which appears to be another project with Sony, and the VR-focused Project Bison, recently announced as the studio's final venture into virtual reality.
The studio has faced its share of challenges recently, having suspended work on Project Victoria last December and scaled down efforts on Project Bifrost. Additionally, in April of the previous year, People Can Fly canceled Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains active with eight known projects in development. Among these, the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, stands out. While no release date has been set for Gears of War: E-Day, Project Gemini, the collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for release in 2026.
People Can Fly's busy development schedule and their latest partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment highlight their continued commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences across various platforms and genres.
