A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream
The Pokémon Company International smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream on November 26, 2024. This marathon event celebrated the launch of Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks, the newest Pokémon TCG expansion.
The livestream, hosted on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured prominent online personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Over 24 hours, this trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, resulting in an estimated 20,000+ cards, as reported on the official Pokémon press site.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement: “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The celebration doesn't end there! The official Pokémon press release promises further product giveaways on the content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The cards collected will be organized and donated to charities before the holidays, including Barnardo’s in the UK.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch
Released November 8, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the central location in Pokémon SV's The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
Fans will also find iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. Tropical vibes abound with illustration rare and special illustration rare cards featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting options for TCG players.
