HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 is gearing up for its highly anticipated premiere on April 13, and the casting news just keeps getting better. Six new actors have joined the already stellar lineup, bringing both familiar faces from the game and fresh characters to life.

According to a report by Variety, the new cast members include Joe Pantoliano, known for his roles in Memento and The Matrix; Alanna Ubach from Euphoria and Bombshell; Ben Ahlers of The Gilded Age and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina; Hettienne Park, who starred in Don’t Look Up; Robert John Burke from RoboCop 3; and Noah Lamanna, seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

These actors will portray characters that enhance the narrative from The Last of Us Part II. Joe Pantoliano will take on the role of Eugene, a character who, in the original game, was a minor figure but will receive more screen time in the series. Eugene, a friend of Ellie and Dina known for his laid-back, pot-smoking persona, will have his background explored in depth, akin to the expansion of Bill's story in Season 1.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann shared with Variety their excitement about delving deeper into Eugene's story. Druckmann commented, "I get excited when I see these opportunities. I'm like, 'Oh, I don’t know Eugene that well!' The story we told [in the game] was somewhat superficial. The way this character comes in really gets to the heart of Joel and Ellie and their relationship."

Robert John Burke will play Seth, the bar owner from The Last of Us Part II known for his controversial actions, while Noah Lamanna will portray Kat, Ellie's former girlfriend. Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, and Hettienne Park will introduce new characters named Hanrahan, Burton, and Elise Park, respectively.

These additions join the existing cast, which includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. With the showrunners hinting at a multi-season approach to covering the events of Part II, fans can look forward to more exciting developments as the episodes unfold.

For those eager to learn more, The Last of Us Season 2 is set to premiere on April 13. You can also explore why the show might span four seasons and what "pretty brutal" cut content from the original game will be featured, as mentioned by Neil Druckmann.
