Mark your calendars: HBO has officially announced that The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT. Not only will it air on HBO, but fans can also stream it on Max. The new season will consist of seven episodes, and to ramp up the excitement, HBO has released stunning new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.
Set five years after the gripping events of the first season, The Last of Us Season 2 will continue the journey of Joel and Ellie as they settle into life with Joel's brother Tommy at their commune in Montana. This season will delve into the narrative of the second game in the series, The Last of Us Part II, so fans of the game will have a good idea of what's coming next.
Joining Pedro Pascal, who reprises his role as Joel, and Bella Ramsey, returning as Ellie, are several new cast members. Kaitlyn Dever will portray Abby, Isabela Merced will play Dina, Young Mazino will take on the role of Jesse, Ariela Barer will appear as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle will embody Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle is also set to star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog's upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards. Created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, the series secured several Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and received nominations for five Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.
Given the success of the first season, HBO is eager to continue the saga. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted that the series is planned to run for a total of four seasons, indicating that this upcoming season will not cover the entire story of The Last of Us Part II.
