Official Description:
Civilization VII - VR brings the iconic strategy game to life in unprecedented detail. The game world unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for intricate views of units and buildings or zoom out for a commanding overview. Players interact directly with world leaders, forging alliances or declaring war across the ages.
The game supports both immersive VR and mixed reality modes, seamlessly switching between them. VR immerses players in an ornate museum overlooking a personalized vista, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to the player's physical space. A dedicated Archives room displays gameplay achievements as detailed dioramas in both VR and mixed reality. Online multiplayer allows up to four players to compete for global dominance.
The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available via early access, have received mixed reception. Steam reviews highlight concerns regarding the user interface, limited map variety, and missing features.
Firaxis has acknowledged this feedback, promising UI improvements, the addition of cooperative teams to multiplayer, and a greater diversity of map types.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged the negative reviews but expressed confidence that the core Civilization fanbase will appreciate the game with more playtime, describing its early performance as "very encouraging."
