Top Khonshu Decks for Marvel Snap Revealed

Attention all discard deck enthusiasts in *Marvel Snap*! The God of the Moon, Khonshu, has arrived, bringing a powerful new tool to your arsenal. Known for its complexity, let's delve into how Khonshu functions within the game.

How Khonshu Works in Marvel Snap

Khonshu enters the fray as a 6-cost, 5-power card with a unique ability: When discarded, it returns in its next phase. Its On Reveal effect allows it to resurrect a card you discarded to another location, setting its Power to 5.

Upon returning in its next phase, Khonshu upgrades to a 6-cost, 8-power card. Its ability then reads: When discarded, it returns in its final phase. The On Reveal effect now resurrects a discarded card with its Power set to 8.

In its final phase, Khonshu becomes a formidable 6-cost, 12-power card. Its On Reveal effect resurrects a discarded card with its Power set to 12.

Khonshu's mechanics are similar to Apocalypse's, as he upgrades each time he's discarded, making his On Reveal effect increasingly potent. The strategy typically involves discarding Khonshu one or two times before playing him on the final turn, reviving a card that benefits from the power boost, such as Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher. Although Khonshu can't revive a specific card, playing his 12-power final phase on turn 6 to revive a card like Meek can clinch victory.

Best Day One Khonshu Decks in Marvel Snap

Finding the optimal deck for Khonshu will require some experimentation, as he may not fit seamlessly into traditional discard decks. Initially, I see him fitting well in a Darkhawk-style Stature deck, along with other alternative discard-type decks. Let's examine the former:

  • Korg
  • Blade
  • Fenris Wolf
  • Juggernaut
  • Moon Knight
  • Lady Sif
  • Rock Slide
  • Silver Samurai
  • Darkhawk
  • Black Bolt
  • Stature
  • Khonshu

The only Series 5 card here is Fenris Wolf, which is crucial as resurrecting an opponent's discarded card from Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, or Black Bolt can be a game-winning strategy.

The strategy with this deck is straightforward: fill your opponent's deck with rocks to power up Darkhawk and discard Khonshu as often as possible. Key cards like Moon Knight, Blade, Rock Slide, and Silver Samurai facilitate this. The challenge lies in timing your discards correctly, ensuring Moon Knight targets Khonshu and not Rock Slide.

Aim to play Stature early, followed by Darkhawk on turn 5 and Khonshu on turn 6, reviving a card with 8 to 12 power. Since all these cards have less than 8 power, Khonshu directly buffs them.

While Khonshu might not replace Apocalypse in traditional discard decks, there's ample room for experimentation. Integrating Khonshu with Apocalypse requires energy ramp, which can be achieved with Corvus Glaive in the following deck:

  • Miek
  • Scorn
  • Blade
  • Morbius
  • Swarm
  • Moon Knight
  • Corvus Glaive
  • Lady Sif
  • Dracula
  • MODOK
  • Khonshu
  • Apocalypse

Scorn is the only Series 5 card in this list and can be swapped for other discard activators like Colleen Wing or energy ramp options like X-23.

This deck leans toward traditional discard but hinges on playing Corvus Glaive on turn 3 to enable dropping Khonshu alongside other discard activators. This strategy aims to buff Apocalypse and flood the board. While it's uncertain if this will outshine traditional discard decks without Khonshu, achieving Khonshu's final phase with Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif, while keeping Apocalypse strong for Dracula, is promising.

Is Khonshu Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

Khonshu stands out as both a powerful and intriguing card, even if you're not a fan of discard decks. He's likely to feature prominently in hybrid discard lists and could become meta-relevant. If you have the resources, investing in Khonshu is well worth it for the innovative gameplay he brings to Marvel Snap.
