Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces bosses, gradually teaching players to master the game's mechanics. While not excessively long, it offers a satisfying number of boss encounters.
Initially, players might need some guidance, but Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, arrives only after a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics is established.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
Following the defeat of Guilen, The Fire Eater, players progress through the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. The key to victory is strategic positioning at either end of the bridge.
Movement is severely restricted, and the bridge platforms are constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks. The strategy involves repeatedly jumping to engage Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for quick, burst damage.
The Ys franchise consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's best, and conquering bosses provides immense player satisfaction.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
While a remake of Ys 3, and part of the franchise's overarching narrative, Gyalva is a new addition. This boss employs several attacks; while the fight itself is straightforward, Gyalva can inflict significant damage quickly. Gyalva moves across the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery attacks.
Significant character upgrades are recommended before this encounter. Aim for at least level 21; this shouldn't be too difficult if you've been consistently defeating smaller enemies.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva utilizes two spinning attacks. The first targets a section of the bridge, flinging those platforms into the air. The second is a full-bridge sweep. Both can severely damage under-leveled players.
To avoid the first, move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe spot is on either ledge at the bridge's end. Staying close to one side ensures a safe retreat.
Avoid the very edge of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, move strategically to attack Gyalva before retreating to a ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs onto the bridge, sending platforms airborne. While damaging, this provides an opportunity to land several hits.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by fireballs traveling between them. These bursts cause damage. Timing is crucial; wait for a burst to subside before moving through the area.
