Application Description

High-Quality USB Camera Viewer & HDMI Display

Transform your device into a versatile portable display for cameras, gaming consoles, laptops, PCs, or any device with HDMI output by using an HDMI to USB C dongle, also known as a UVC capture device or Video Capture Card. Note that a USB C hub or USB C to HDMI cable won't suffice for this purpose.

Additionally, cameras, endoscopes, and microscopes with USB streaming capabilities are fully compatible with our system.

Noir supports UVC video streaming and UAC audio streaming, with options for graphics backend using either OpenGL ES or Vulkan.

Experience the basic functionalities and immersive viewing with the free version of Noir, though it includes ads (not during the preview). Opt for the pro version to unlock additional features and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of Noir.

FAQ

  1. Why doesn't Noir recognize my device? Your phone or tablet may not support USB Host (OTG), or the connected device might not be a Video Capture Card. Additionally, your device might not supply enough power to the capture card; in this case, a USB hub can help.

  2. Why is the preview so laggy? Lag often stems from the USB version used. For USB 3.0 capture cards, ensure both your USB cable and the port on your device are USB 3.0. For USB 2.0, make sure the video format is MJPEG and doesn't exceed 1080p30fps, although some cards support up to 1080p50fps.

  3. Why did my capture card, which was working fine, suddenly fail to connect? This issue is typically due to system problems. Restarting your phone or tablet usually resolves it.

  4. Why does my gaming console or Video playback device show a black screen when connected? This problem is frequent with PS5 and PS4 due to HDCP being enabled. Disable HDCP by navigating to the PS console's settings: Settings -> System -> HDMI, and turn off Enable HDCP. PS3 does not support this feature. Other devices may auto-enable HDCP during video playback, resulting in a black screen. Some HDMI splitters can bypass HDCP restrictions, but exploring this option is left to the user.

  5. Why are resolutions other than 16:9 and 4:3 not supported? Current market capture cards typically support only these ratios. You can use Noir's Stretch feature to adjust the ratio, provided your capture card's EDID supports it and your laptop or computer is set to the desired resolution.
