The Guardians of the Road project has been revitalized with a new application designed for an enhanced and user-friendly experience. By joining the Road Guard project, you can play a pivotal role in saving lives on our roads.
Initiated in 2016, the "Guardians of the Road - the road of all of us" project aims to boost awareness and promote safer driving practices. As of January 1, 2023, the initiative is managed by the "Safe Path" association, dedicated to fostering safer road environments.
Eligible citizens over the age of 18 can download the "Road Guards" app and begin contributing to safer roads by documenting traffic violations. Using the app is straightforward and efficient: activate it before you start driving, and when you witness a traffic violation, simply engage the reporting feature. You can report incidents using either a voice command or by pressing the Bluetooth button on your steering wheel. The app will then record the violation and capture the details of the offense.
The recorded evidence is sent to a control center staffed by experienced volunteer traffic controllers. Following their review, a "letter on the way" is sent to the offending driver, including a link to the video documentation of the violation. In cases where the offense poses a significant threat to life, the report is escalated to the police for further action.
