Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, despite not yet having premiered, is already confirmed for two seasons, as revealed by the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to lead the project following the exit of former showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his current endeavors.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore disclosed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Moore, while not identifying as a gamer, admitted to enjoying classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore has been appointed as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on iconic shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and he notably served as showrunner for the critically acclaimed 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica.
Despite the departure of some key members of the original team, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer. While many details about the series are still under wraps, it is confirmed that the show will be based on the acclaimed 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's prompt renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV series and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising outlook for the God of War series on the streaming platform.
