Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke, voicing Michael De Santa, offers fans reassurance about the highly anticipated GTA 6, predicting blockbuster sales. This article explores the anticipation surrounding GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games' Unconventional Approach to GTA 6
GTA 6's Projected $1.3 Billion Debut
Ned Luke boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, highlighting Rockstar Games' unpredictable nature as a key factor.
Luke emphasized patience, assuring fans that the wait will be worthwhile: "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He cited GTA 5's $800 million opening-day revenue in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass this record. Market research firm DFC Intelligence projects over 40 million units sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with $1 billion attributed solely to pre-orders.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters?
Luke also speculated on the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and possibly GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online, unlike Trevor and Franklin. Luke hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a future GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario where Trevor meets his end early in GTA 6.
Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." While both actors express enthusiasm for reprising their roles, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with Kiwi Talkz, York highlighted the game's unprecedented unpredictability: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is likely in its internal testing phase, with ongoing refinements and additions. He suggests the game is at least playable, and many testers have likely already experienced it.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but has remained tight-lipped since. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's financial reports, no official release date has been confirmed.
