*Marvel Rivals'* Season 1 kicked off with a bang, introducing Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman to the roster. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of The Thing and Human Torch, and the wait is finally over. Here's everything you need to know about The Thing's release date and his abilities in *Marvel Rivals*.

What Is The Thing’s Release Date in Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals has announced that the first half of Season 1 is drawing to a close, with the second half set to begin on February 21st. This new phase will bring rank adjustments and, most excitingly, the rest of Marvel's First Family into the game.

The Vanguard roster in Marvel Rivals has been eagerly anticipating the addition of The Thing. He will officially join the Marvel Rivals roster on February 21st, alongside the Human Torch.

What Are The Thing’s Abilities in Marvel Rivals?

The Thing is designed to be a Vanguard, or tank, in Marvel Rivals. As a melee character, his primary attacks involve punching and smashing enemies up close. While he shares similarities with The Hulk, his unique abilities set him apart. Here's a look at The Thing's abilities based on leaks:

  • Furious Charge: Dash forward, throw enemies into the air, and leave a seismic zone behind that stuns enemies.
  • Battlefield Support: Quickly jump to assist a teammate, granting both of you damage reduction.
  • Slam Moment (Ultimate): Launch all enemies in front of you into the air, displacing them and providing your team with opportunities for free kills.
  • Solid as a Rock (Passive): Immune to knockback and crowd control (CC) attacks.
  • Team-Up Ability: Similar to Hulk, The Thing can throw Wolverine like a fastball into the battlefield. His primary attack consists of low-damage, fast punches, while his secondary is a charged punch that deals more damage.

From his abilities, The Thing appears to be a primary tank designed to stay on the frontline, acting as a meat shield and absorbing damage for his team. Although his abilities may resemble those of Hulk or Venom, he is not a dive tank. He could potentially serve as a good replacement for primary tanks like Doctor Strange or Magneto, but we'll need to see him in action to fully understand his role.

The Thing Team Comps in Marvel Rivals

Based on his abilities, The Thing will synergize well with other tanks like Thor, Hulk, and Peni Parker. For DPS, pairing him with Wolverine could be effective, and a ranged DPS like Hawkeye or Namor would complement his playstyle.

For healers, Mantis and Luna Snow are good choices as The Thing lacks mobility.

And that's everything you need to know about The Thing's release date and abilities in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
