The Monster Hunter Wilds team recently shared a pre-release community update, covering console specifications, weapon adjustments, and more. This article summarizes key details, including PC system requirements and the potential for a second open beta.
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a patch optimizing performance for the PS5 Pro. The December 19th community update stream, featuring director Yuya Tokuda, highlighted the following console performance targets:
- PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X: Two modes – "Prioritize Graphics" (4K, 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p, 60fps). A rendering bug in the framerate mode has been addressed.
- Xbox Series S: Native 1080p resolution at 30fps.
PS5 Pro specifics remain limited to enhanced visuals available at launch.
Lowered Minimum PC Specs Incoming
While initial PC specifications were previously announced, the developers confirmed efforts to reduce minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Details will be revealed closer to launch, with a potential PC benchmark tool also under consideration.
Second Open Beta Test Possible
A second open beta is being considered, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game. However, the improvements discussed in the stream won't be included in this potential second beta; they'll only be present in the final release.
Further updates included refinements to hitstop and sound effects for enhanced impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon adjustments across the board, with particular attention given to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
