Remedy Entertainment has reached a pivotal milestone with Control 2, as their annual report confirms the game has successfully transitioned from the concept validation stage into full production. This marks a significant step forward, solidifying the project's progression and commitment to bringing this highly anticipated sequel to life.
In addition to Control 2, Remedy is actively developing two other exciting projects: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. Just a year ago, these titles were in the preparatory phase, but they have now advanced to the next stage of development. However, the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from Remedy's plans. It was canceled back in May of the previous year.
All these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has demonstrated its effectiveness in previous titles such as Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy games. This engine continues to be a cornerstone of Remedy's development strategy.
Regarding the budget, Control 2 is set with a substantial allocation of 50 million euros. The studio plans to self-publish this title, which will be released on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. FBC: Firebreak comes with a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This game will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The budget details for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain undisclosed, but it is known that these will be AAA-level productions. The development and marketing of these remakes are fully funded by Rockstar Games, ensuring a high-quality return to the iconic Max Payne series.
