Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously found in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages, so we removed the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is noteworthy, given the prominent role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment within FromSoftware's game history. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. The game promises a fresh adventure, introducing unique challenges and encounters while preserving the distinctive atmosphere and complex world of Elden Ring.
